Well ive read about PayPal horror stories on here before. Ive dealt with PayPal for about four years now, and it was horrible from the start. Three times ive had my account randomly frozen and crazy steps involved to get it unfrozen. Well this time, i did all 8 steps to get my account unfrozen. I had about $500 USD on my account when it was locked May 26th. Now with refunds from my buyers, ive been forced into refunding them. No disputing my side, and the point that the buyer protection policy does not cover what they were buying. So it left me with $250 USD in my account, all the steps completed. And yet it was still locked? No status change once i completed the last step. So then i call them and demand for my account to be unfrozen. The personnel says ok shes submitted it for review. Then about two hours later i get this email from PayPal. Pretty much saying they want to delete my account, and keep my $250 USD for 180 days. (Which is to obviously invest into there money market fund if you didnt know)
This is the exact bs email they sent me:

No reason to hold $250 USD of my money.
And forced me into refunds which the buyers did not deserve, over $1,000 in refunds.
Since this unlawful, im contacting my lawyer to see what i can do
Simply because im pissed off.
Im still im this freakin dispute for 390.00 make a long story short, the guys needs to get a reports saying the product i sold him is not as described, i sold him some generic speakers. Well, these POS are made in china, so i know the specs might be wrong some times. He has till Sunday to fax over a letter. I contacted the guy, and pretty much did a stall tactic, told him i would do a refund, if he could ship the items back in perfect condition so i can resell them, and that i would refund 305.00 and keep his shipping. I faxed him a letter saying "if he dropped the claim" i would do a refund, We talked on the phone and agreed to this. Now i think this guy is just waiting, to loose the claim, and send me back my speakers for a refund, which i wont do if i win. The guy already left me badfeedback, so i dont really care for his ass that much. Its 4:21pm right now, nothing has been faxed, and he has till sunday. If nothing is faxed, im released from this dispute. right? Does he have till sunday 12am or all day sunday. If i do win, can i just not take shipment of the speakers, and theyll get sent back to him, i also put "upon delivery with a signature"....what do you guys think...sellers gonna win...im 2 and 0 with PP

these idiots need to be shut down! I sold about 10 copies of downloadable software. All software was legit with legit unused activation keys and all. Freakin paypal limited my account two days ago and the steps they are asking me to complete are just fraustrating and some of them are impossible for me. For instance, one of the steps they are asking me to complete is to provide sufficient proof of inventory and proof of legit supplier. WTF im not a freakin reseller/retailer. I'm just an individual who bought wrong software and since I cant get refund for it I decided to sell it off to get some of my money back. There for I cannot povide paypal with sufficient proof of inventory. They are also asking me to provide shipping proof for the software i sold. Once again, impossible since they were all downloadable versions which were sent via email. I emailed them asking them to remove these two steps from the check list because they are making it impossible for me to complete the check list. I'm sure they will not remove them. What can I do? should I just call them and go off on who ever picks up the phone? this is some straight up bullshivism. After reading all these stories, im pretty sure my $1300 is gone!!!
Ok a friend and I were talking about paypal (i actually directed him to this site) and how much we hated it (both of us have had problems) and he told me about how a guy had done a chargeback on him and how he had all the right info but how he "lost" the chargeback battle. So we both kinda did some research into chargebacks.
Like when you do a chargeback lets say for $2000 Visa/Mastercard/Discover you realize are billion dollar companies. If you have been a good customer and such 99.9% of the time they do it without even asking a second question. I once lost my card and had $500 run up on it in a day and they just said ok your fine we'll credit your account. In talking to a guy who I work with (wise older man haha) He said 99.9% of the time unless you are a repeat felon or do alot of chargebacks on a card the money just comes from Visa (they're billion dollar companies remember) and refunding you this $2000 to keep you from switching cards in the long run they still make money. So its not like Visa is calling paypal everyday like yo fool give me my $2000 but im sure they send them something like this card was used unauthrorized or send them a statement at the end of the month showing what paypal may owe. And with paypal being such a huge provider for credit cards, im sure visa etc isnt going to shut them down for a few chargebacks.
So my friend and I came to the conclusion that first of all paypals "fighting chargebacks" is absolutle BS, which we all knew anyway, but then on top of that they may be asking for money from you, that they dont even have to pay. There is NO WAY paypal ha to pay back every chargeback. My dads business does no where near what paypal does and he is protected from chargebacks so i know paypal more than likely is (unless they are so cheap they dont want to pay for protection, which could be the case). Anyone know anything about the credit card chargeback process. Im actually hoping we are wrong because wow if visa is saying to paypal, yeah you have this chargeback but dont worry about it, yet paypal is still going after its customers and keeping the money, then WOW.
paypal now decides if they want to let the seller say this is fraud I didn't do what they are saying. you then have 10 days to fax paypal a copy of the police report. Check and see how many police depts can give you a copy of your police report in 10 days, none. Well then the claim is closed. If the seller didn't put return address on it you have to suepena paypal for it call paypals #1-408-967-9919 and see how long this takes, 5-10 business days not counting weekend bet your 10 days does and for get the time to get the suepena and serving time plus you don't get any money paid back to you. It's only a $650 lesson for me. PAYPAL SUCKS!!! AND NEEDS TO PULL THEY'RE HEAD OUT OF THIER NEDDA! I WILL REPOST EVERY 30 DAYS TILL PAYPAL IS CLOSED!
They have placed holds on my funds and are now placing holds on all the people I have bought from! WHAT SHOULD I DO!!
Ok I have had it and don't know what to do next! These paypal people need to be shut down for fraud! My account got limited a while back and I had one item's payment held and didn't ship it as I had to pay to buyu it myself and with no money I couldn't. I emailed the buyer(before going to see PP) and told her what happened and that I was gonna refund her. I than went to refund her and couldn't because my account was limited(I thought I could still refund but couldn't) At this time I had a positive balance and maybe 50 or so dollars over what she had paid. I told her to file a non receipt case through paypal figuring than I could resolve it and since I had the funds than they'd be held and refunded. Well she did that, I went to resolve complaint, tried refunding and still couldn't! Now about 6 days after this paypal reverses a payment made to me from my brothers account stating fraudulent funds investagation, well he didn't report the transaction, so I don't know why this happned. Anyway now my balance goes - because of this fake hold! Now today my buyer wins her case(finally) and paypal takes her held money and applies it to the fraudulent - funds and doesn't give her her money back! Now I look like a frakin crook and paypal doesn't! As well now paypal is going and reversing payments made now to my supplier(other pp acct, bro's if you've read my priors)How can they do this? This is pure fraud! That woman should get her money back! They had it, held it and now just apply to some phoney reversal they made up! Hellppppppp meeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
I guess like most of the users on here I had to find out the hard way that not only does paypal suck but it looks like it is owned by the MOB. I had one of my customers that was coming by and I did let him use my shops computer a number of times, keep in mind that I have known him for over a year and he would come in and check his ebay and his paypal as he used paypal to pay me , like I said he was a customer. He did wind up losing his mind on ebay and commited quite a few acts of fraud of which I was oblivious to, he had a feed back score of over 700 positive and he did wind up stealing from me as well. All of this is documented but the thing that I have the biggest problem with is the fact that paypal has basically accused me of fraud and limited my account because he was on my computer. If I had known what he was up to on ebay or if I had known that he would be stealing from me I would have smacked him in the head with a wrench and called the police but I didn’t, as I said he had a very high feed back score. But paypal on the other hand has limited my account and I’ve had 3 cs reps tell me that because he had been on my computer that we are now linked together and I need to find him and get him to make things right with paypal. I have a serious problem with this as I have read the users agreement and have yet to find the section that says I need to screen everyone, run a criminal background check or dust off my crystal ball and predict who is a criminal or will wind up being a criminal. Not to mention the fact that I can’t find the section that says I will wind up being a collections officer for paypal in the event that they have problems with someone who has used my computer.
If any of the paypal employees reading this disagree with me then they need to read more posts on this site as I see that I’m not the only one that has been told this, and by the way I have three different cs reps recorded telling me to either find this person and get him to make his account right or just make it right myself(cell phones are great!). The problem with paypal asking someone to do this is if I pay his balance then I’m admitting that I’ve done something wrong which I have not, If I find him then that might not go so well either. But paypal is basically asking me to do this which to me is inciting a lynch mob. Where is any of this printed in the users agreement? I’ll bet if it was in there and honest people knew what they were signing up for than paypal wouldn’t be quite so large.
To date I have been letting other of my customers use my computer to access their paypal but it has been to start closing their accounts. I know that paypal doesn’t care if they lose one account but it’s been 3 days and so far I’ve had 28 of my customers say goodbye to paypal for what they are doing to me, so to all of my customer’s who read this I just want to says thanks for being loyal and knowing me better than that. I just hope that over the next few weeks I can help make that number of closures a few houndred then maybe paypal will notice that they need to change their unethical business practices.
This situation started many months ago. I went to log into paypal one day, and it told me that I had been using the same password for too long, and I would need to change it. Well, anyways, a few weeks later, I ended up forgetting my password. In order to have my password emailed to me, I had to either answer my "secret questions" or type in my credit card number. Well, my credit card was upstairs, so I thought I would just try the questions instead. I wasn't sure whether I had provided accurate answers to the questions when I created my account, or if I had just typed random characters, but I tried to answer them a few times anyways. I was about to give up and go dig out my credit card, and paypal went to a screen that said I couldn't try anymore, and would have to call customer service! Well, no big deal, right? WRONG!
Over the next few weeks, I made multiple calls to their customer service, and sent multiple emails. I would consistently be told different things, but it eventually came up that in order to get access to my account again, I would need to fax them a lot of personal documents to confirm my identity. Way more stuff than I had needed to even sign up. Well this was a big problem for me, because I know absolutely NOTHING about faxes. But eventually I found a store where you could send faxs from, and a clerk there helped me with it. Now, they had told me that I should have access to my account again about a week after I faxed them the stuff. It's now been about a month and I still haven't heard anything back from them.
At this point, I would like nothing more than to just get my money back and close my account. Does anyone have any tips as to how I should proceed at this point? I tried calling again the other day, and the woman I got just insisted that they could reactivate my account over the phone, and after going through some process that of course didnt work, she put me on hold and then I got disconnected!
Ok here goes. Last week my account was frozen for suspicious transactions. I followed the link and sent them all the information they wanted. They then emailed me and told me that they needed proof that I owned the items I am selling. They wanted receipts for all items. Receipts? Who keeps receipts? I then faxed them with a detail explanation of every item sold and a tracking number to prove that they where shipped. Today they tell me that my account has been linked to two other suspended accounts. The accounts share the same last name and the same bank routing number. WHAT?? So anyone that has my last name and banks at my bank makes me them? To have my account unfrozen I have to pay these other peoples accounts off. They total about $1800.00. How can they make me pay this? What is going on here?

Is my money my money or PayPals???
i recently worked for paypal and they fired me for helping a customer set up an account. close your account as soon as u can because they tell their employees that it's ok to LIE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS!! they do not care about the QUALITY their employees give to the customer, just the quantity of time spent on the phone with them..."get 'em off the phone quicker, the better".... it was a nightmare.
PAY PAL FROZE MY ACCOUNT AND PUT A NEGATIVE 749.00 BALANCE, I SOLD A LAPTOP ON EBAY, CUSTOMER PAID BY PAY PAL, I TRANSFERED THE MONEY TO MY CHECKING ACCOUNT, NOW THEY SAY ACCOUNT IS ON HOLD, CAN THEY TAKE MONEY OUT OF MY CHECKING ACCT, I REPORTED CREDIT CARD AS LOST. IT IS STILL BEING INVESTIGATED BY PAY PAL.
WHAT SHOULD I DO??
Once again, they have displayed what a crappy service they provide. Now I fear I could lose money. Basically, I started selling legal DVD sets of different programmes - no bootlegs, original copies. All was going well and then I had a few requests from Australia. This extra business give my account a little cash boost - but it was to have consquences. Paypal would swoop in with their infamous freezing account abilities.
The famous old, highly suspicious activity policy was used and I have to provide certain materials. I am having problems finding receipts and proving my suppliers were legal dealers.
So I need your help in answering a few troublesome questions:
Does paypal have the ability to cancel transactions (one's that are weeks old, the money has been sent to the bank; the customers received their goods without complaint,) and then lift money from your bank account to refund that person? Can they use money that is currency frozen in the account to refund previous customers? (with no complaints requesting it)
If my account is not unfrozen, I'm I looking at 180 days? Once the time limit passes, does the account unfreeze itself or just allow you to transfer that money to your account?
CHEERS FOR ALL INCOMING REPLIES.
AND OUT OF INTEREST, IS PAYPAL ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE OR IS IT REALLY HERE TO STAY FOR A WHILE?
I had sold a few cell phones on ebay and a golf club, total of about $700.. They froze my account and wont let me remove funds until i verify about 10 differnt things, today I spent at least 2 hours, faxing stuff, validating bank account and called them and they said it takes 24 hours to get the fax. I am so pissed right now I am ready to kill someone. I HATE PAYPAL. They have my money and wont realease it. They said there was suspicious activity or high risk on my account. What can I do besides waiting 3 days for the deposit on my bank account. I need the money for bills!!!!!!!
had a PayPal account which I have not used in some time. Now, suddenly practically every day I'm getting notices from my bank of rejected transactions that I never made. With every transaction of course comes a $29 bank fee. I'm going over to the bank with these items in hopes that they will reverse the transactions. I'm unemployed right now and can't afford to pay for stuff I never even ordered. My bank account is way overdrawn because of this mess.
HI All,
I have been selling stuff for over 3 years on e-bay got Powerseller and everything and all of a suden one guy filed a claim and my account was limited. I'm not US citizen but use US bank account and Pay Pal so once it was limited I comlied with most of the things PP required except SSN which I don't have at all!!! SO in hope they will waive it I had to keep listing asked my brother in law who resides in US to use his PP account used it for 1 week got collected over 3K and BOOM!!! again limited so still I had to keep going so linked another account and again up to 5 account in total over 10K. Finally 2 month PP came up with review that they don't want to restore my account. So I asked what about the other people not me which I used to send money through their PP account in order to keep my sales. And they say they also cannot use their accounts anymore.
Now I have to ask you guys are they kept closing my account cause I used them all to list in one e-bay account or they tracked me down with IP address?
So what will be my chances of opening another e-bay and PP account under somebody's name and not get my money frozen?
Pls advise.
rarely use ebay but we were moving last year and my son didn't want to drag his old drum kit with him so we sold it November 2005 and the buyer paid through PayPal. He completed the transaction so quickly I didn't have a chance to get the actual shipping charges before he paid. So we packed up the kit in three boxes, the largest being 90 lbs, and shipped it to the buyer. Turned out the buyer only received 2 of 3 boxes because UPS lost the 90 lbs box. The buyer made a claim with PalPal and they awarded in their favor and got the max payable under their terms. Then they buyer claimed a chargeback and their credit card company paid the rest. PayPal closed my account and sent their collection agency after me for about $950.00. The buyer didn't pay the actual cost of shipping, which was $142, only paid $30. Any idiot could figure out that a drum kit is going to cost more than $30 to ship but he never asked how much and he didn't purchase shipping insurance. Since the cost was already more than he paid for shipping I didn't purchase it either. Turns out that without shipping insurance UPS is only liable for $100 so I can't sue them to recover and pay back.
What really sux is that ebay/PayPal are set up to allow the buyer to purchase before the seller has a chance to give the final figures. For a seller who isn't used to doing these types of transactions it bites! Especially when it's hectic trying to get things handled when moving.
Doesn't the buyer have any responsiblity for shipping and whether they want insurance? They're given the option when making the purchase. Why offer it if the buyer doesn't actually have to purchase it. So am I really responsible for this?
i recently sold a louis vuitton bag on ebay for WELL under its real value. I got $185 for it. well the buyer claimed it was a fake (which was untrue) so she filed a dispute and told paypal we would not giver her a refund on those grounds. well we submitted our rebuttal to the "dispute committee" only to wait 30 DAYS while they made a decision. all the while the purse was out of my possession. On the 30th day paypal concluded that the item was not as described (dont know how I posted FOUR PICTURES of the item) and said we owed a refund. I have serious doubts that a committee ever reviewed the damn case, any human with half a brain would side with me!!! well our paypal account has been frozen and during the 2 months we could not buy anything through paypal while they decided. paypal issued the refund to the buyer and said she shipped the purse back to me. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE THE BAG. all the while paypal is harassing me saying I need to give a refund. well, I am not paying anything until I receive my bag!!!! so needless to say, I will NEVER use paypal again. You will be wise to do the same. Just close your paypal account while you can and pay with checks or money orders, way less hassle. and from other stories I have read from angry buyers and sellers and former paypal employees I dont know why anyone would want to use paypal!!!!!!!
My account was closed this morning due to a high security threat. It may be from using it on 2 different ebay accounts over time, but I'm not sure. It's asking me to do a whole list of things, all of which I will not do (SSN, Credit Check, etc). Is there anyway to get the money out of the account? Most of the money is from new payments that were just made. Can I refund their money? Can I refund more than they paid and ask them to send me a check for more if they are comfortable with doing that? I have extra money that was just in there that I'd like to recoop.
Also, I'm going to need a new way to accept payments. My business is normally around $1000-2000 a month, so I don't think there are any alternatives that are cost effective. How can I get back onto Paypal? Should I buy one of those Walgreens Cards? Is there another way? I want to be able to get back on without using my real name/address if possible, but still be able to cash out the balance that I will accumulate.
I'm sure there have been many cases like mine, but I can't find anything that will answer these questions exactly. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I received the wrong DVD from eBay seller YASBLUE. PayPal said I could only get a refund if I returned wrong DVD back to seller at my expense.
That would be no problem , except seller lives in London and he had DVD sent to me from Amazon in Fernley, Nevada.
I paid 54.00 for DVD and it would cost me 48.50 to ship it to London.
When I tried to explain this to PayPal , all I would get was computer generated eMails saying I must return product to seller at my own expense.
There customer service is terrible.
Three years ago we started a subscription-supported daily newsletter and offered PayPal as the 'easy' way to sign up.
After some months we decided to discontinue the product and go back to a free service supported by ads.
Now.... every July PayPal goes back in and tries to charge our subscribers credit cards once again!!! When that happens I receive hundreds of irate emails from subscribers and the subscribers receive a message saying how our account is in bad standing, making my company look badly!!!
The "customer service" is just completely brain dead. No response, no phone calls accepted, a phone menu that reads like the Congressional Record, emails tossed in the garbage. I can't believe a company like this can even operate.
Is there a lawsuit happening with PayPal.... I'll join it! Our company has been severely damaged by these people and I want damages to our reputation and compensation for the hours and hours I've had to spend with these idiots.
Thanks folks, you're doing a real public service here...
PAY PAL FROZE MY ACCOUNT, THEY SENT A GUY HIS MONEY BACK, 234.50 NOW I HAVE NO ITEM AND NO MONEY HE CLAIMED I GOT MY ITEM, WELL WHERE IS IT? NOW SINCE I TRIED TO START TROUBLE WITH THEM, THEY WANT ME TO PAY BACK ITEMS FROM 5 YEARS AGO? THEY CLAIM NOT AS DESCRIBED, THEY CANCELLED THESE REQUETS 5 YEARS AGO AND NOW ARE SAYING IF I WANT MY PAY PAL ACCOUNT I NEED TO SEND PAYMENTSA TO PEOPLE FROM 5 YEARS AGO?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME, NOW THEY ARE TAKING MY MONEY AND GIVING IT AWAY LIKE WATER, FROZEN ACCOUNT, NO ITEMS AND NOW THEY WANT ME TO GIVE MONEY TO PEOPLE FROM 4-5 YREARS AGO, INSURENCE CLAIM WAS WON AND SENT THE ITEM TO THE BUYER, PAY PAL TOOK MORE MONEY AND JUST HANDED IT TO HIM NOW, WE ALL NEED TO WORK TOGHTER AS ONE TO FIGHT THEM AND SUE FOR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, LIKE THE GIRL ON THE PHONE SAID WE HAVE 100,000.00 MILLION CUSTOMERS THEY DONT CARE ABOUT ANY OF US
To make a long story short, an online customer purchased a custom computer system from us for 3500.00. He paid by American Express, processed by PayPal. As soon as a received the set, he filed for a chargeback with Amex. He refused to prove there was any defect, American Express credit him, PayPal debited me, and the customer refuses to send me back the merchandise. PayPal closed the case citing they cannot retrieve the money. I called Amex, and after almost 50 minutes they agrees to tell me that all PayPal did was submit our paper. Even worth, PayPal will not grant us seller protection even though we are qualified by their own terms, and told us to "ask the customer to return the goods to us". What do we do now? Isn't this promotion of online fraud by a company that is supposed to protect you? How do I get my merchandise back? Any help is appreciated. The customer is in NY, we are in LA.
Just a quick note to let you all know that yesterday I signed up for a pay pal account.
Today I found this website. As of 5 mins ago ----> You have successfully closed your account.
I have recently been ripped off for $560.00 Au via an ebay transaction and funnily enough signed up for PayPAl to "secure" my future transactions. After spending a good hr and a half reading the pro and cons of having dealings with this company I decided there were NO Pros. I feel satisfied with my decision to "can" this mob and have accepted that if there is a product I wish to have that is only tied to PP payments then I DO NOT need it !
Thanks for the heads up people. I feel I have saved myself a lot of future heartache. My father has been using PP for years with no problems but even his success (some may call it luck) gives me no reassurance that things will always go 100%
Thanks again. WHEW !

BTW- I DID get my money back from the ebay scammer after consulting with contacts outside "the box" :)
In January I started a new business selling mobile phones in the UK, I was an agent for the 3 network and this means I simply process orders with the network sending out the phone and contract. In february they locked my account and asked me to provide invoices and shipping documents for the phones. I replied stating that I was an agent for the network and documented the process, what happened? They sent me the same email and ignored what i said, this then happened 23 times. I have now emailed them 150 times and made 33 phone calls including the board of PayPal Europe who are based here in the UK and I have tried to speak to the MD he has not had the courtesy to speak to me. In each email most have not been replied to however the board have send read receipts so I know they read them. There customer services staff have repeatedly lied and misled me and on at least 15 occaisions promised to call me back but have not. Interestingly there customer service call centre claims not to be able to transfer calls to their executive escalations dept and their legal dept apparently doesn't have a phone number. All sounds like deliberate attempts to stall complaints. They have cost me around £30K I am considering a legal challenge to cover my losses in the UK, I am considering an attempt to get a winding up order on Paypal Europe Ltd on the basis they have not met their liabilities.
sold an authentic $6,000 item on eBay, it was received by the buyer who then claimed that it was not authentic. In my auction, I stated that if it was certified by a specific individual of my choice as to be not authentic, I would issue a refund - it turns out, that that person of my choice, was a close friend of theirs! I told them if the expert would send me, directly, a personally signed document stating that the item was not authentic, then I would issue a refund. I NEVER received such a document, only a photocopy of a supposedly original document that was notorized by one of the million notary places you see in your local neighborhood. Because that was not an original document, I refused to pay. They filed a claim with Paypal, and my account was frozen with a negative balance of $6,000. I called Paypal dozens of times (we all know how that works), and I refused to pay them. Finally, the buyer filed a dispute with their credit card company, which in turn granted them a refund, and then turned to Paypal for compensation. Even though the item was returned to me shortly after, I continued to refuse to pay Paypal. Paypal then sent it to NCO Collections, and they have been harassing me ever since. Several months ago, I told them I would accept one of their lower offers, and felt that it was my moral obligation, since the item had been returned to me, to atleast pay off the fraction of the debt. Now, I've come across this website... and I don't want to give myself a hard time over what has already been paid to NCO, but I want to know whether I should continue to finish these payments or refuse.
I absolutely do NOT want my credit to be tarnished for this, so I'd like to hear what you think should be done. Thanks so much for your time.
My account was limited that night, the same night around the same time it was limited I did everything in the resolution center except add a credit card, why? because I do not have a credit card. So same night I called PayPal told them I dont have a credit card, Lady told me we will just send you a code in the mail to verify your location, it took about 2 weeks to get here because i am here in southern ontario canada. During that 2 week period I called paypal i think 3 times plus the first call so were at 4 calls so far.
I made the bigest mistake though. I told her i wasnt 18, which only in the user agreement does it state you have to be 18. So now I have to fax ID in so I fax my Ontarios drivers licesne, hell it will change in a couple of years, they will only have the driver licence number, and there not in canada.
So after all that we are at July 2 now I fax in that info, and get the conformation code, i put that all in a VIOLA IM STILL LIMITED
now they want me to add a credit card and enter my expanded user number.
I call PayPal again i said i dont have a credit card, of course this time i get someone you cant f-ing speak english, he tryed to tell me I could use my debit card as a credit card. I basicly told him im over with you, and said bye.
So its no July 17 and still limited account, and no action on it. They said they would send it to resolutions.
So now i am screwed. Oh yah when this happend 10 dolars was being transfered into my account, and i was paying for hosting then limiedte host never got the money my acount deleted, and i could pay for a domain i was getting with the 10, so now i have around 90 stuck in there Canadain of course.
So yah thats my story, I am calling PayPal tomorow, who should i request to speak with and what should i say?
Alright well through ebay, i put up for auction a signed michael jordan card, the winning bid was from a taiwanese person, he bid almost $600. He paid right away via paypal, i offered him several shipping methods the cheapest one is the one he chose, which i had no problems with i had shipped via that method before to asia. I live in california. it was standard global priority mail which takes less than 10 days. i offered another shipping method which was $20 and offered international tracking but he declined it. I shipped the card and not 7 days later he opened a non receipt claim with paypal. We posted messages back and forth in the resolution center, he kept claiming he never got the card and i told him i had proof from the post office of my receipt, it clearly states the date/time/ and place the card was sent to. i even got a full page copy from the post office which i scanned and sent to paypal. They told me via email that since i dont have proof of delivery that the claim might go in his favor, please i need any help i can get in how to resolve this issue without loosing all that money, is it possible to close my paypal account in a negative balance without them charging my bank account? any help is greatly apreciated, any tips anything at all, thanks allot. PAYPAL SUCKS! and so does ebay!
I used to have a US based address and changed countries and went to enter a new credit card. The system would not recognise a non US Credit Card and then Froze the card because the address was not verified.
I tried for over two months and about 20 emails to try and get the people at Paypal to understand the problem and help be fix it. All to no avail. It was like dealing with morons. In the end I have just stopped using that account. I am amazed at just how bad their customer service is. They had the cheek to send me a form to fill in asking if I was satisfied with there dealing of my complaint. I filled it out explaining that they had not dealt with it but never heard from them again so I assume that no one ever reads the reply's. PayPal sucks.
OK so as always I try to log in to my Paypal acount and BAM I get a screen YELLING at me saying my acount is limited (frozen blah blah) and they require me to
1. Fax documentations (basically strip me from my WHOLE life identity and personal info)
2. Provide stock information (I have been selling a lot of things on ebay and they think its a fruad now and want quantity and stock information...WTF)
3. Give proof of shipment for ALL those items sold (I been selling lots of virtual stuff like game acounts so how the hell can I give proof of shipment...I email them)
I am VERY confused and tired tonight so I will be contacting them tomorrow. I just know this is going to be a longggggggggggggggggggg way from over any time soon. I really need the $305 USD that they have locke dup.
HELP MEEE PLEASEEE
thanks in advance!

help! THese thieves hold over 2k of my money!! what should I do ??? I have already waited for over 180 days!
I spent an hour on the phone with them trying to get this resolved and they said ohh well...
Apparently there is someone on paypal that also has a @earthlink.net login name that used a computer that I logged into that has an outstanding balance. Since the computer IDs matched and we both have @earthlink.net logins they suspended my account as well thinking I am them. They cannot tell me anymore info except I need to find this person and have them make their account current, untill then I cannot use my PayPal account. How in GODS name is that legal? How the flying **** am I suppose to find that person? I spent 6 weeks over seas using random computers using paypal to send payments this person could be anyone!
Anyone know how I can get around this...
I used paypal on ebay.I was scammed by a member who said he did'nt recieve his bar of silver.I used u.s. postal and signature required on a 15 oz bar of silver.Recieved the funds by paypal. The buyer stated he got an empty envelope no silver filed a complaint with paypal. The did a so called investigation.Nothing no callls to me,no calls to my shipping company. They refunded money to the buyer stealing my cash from my checking account.
Paypal has put my account in a limited state, and I told them I refuse to submit any of my information because they said they need it, because of high activity (HELLO PAYPAL, I AM A EBAY SELLER!!!!). I told them, that I request interest on the funds in my account, because as they hold them, they are investing my money, and that my be the actual reason for holding the funds for 180 days. Will someone please help me with this, because I am very serious about calling a lawyer and inquiring about this, and perhaps another class action lawsuit...
I bought a pair of shoes from seller dannilax through Ebay and paid by Paypal. The shoes arrived and they smelled, were size 6 & 7 (told size 4 in auction) and were very badly stained. I complained to paypal for a refund and they advised I may be eligable for a refund and to return the goods to the seller, which I was to pay postage for. I gave the receipt number to paypal and a few days later they told me they could not track it so no refund. Seller also refused refund. So now I have no goods or refund, not that I would have put those things on my feet anyway, had they fitted!
Hi,
PP limited my business account for stupid reasons!! They kept asking me for receipts of items I sold on ebay. I couldnt offer any invoice, so they limited my account for 180 days.
My questions now are:
Can I open a new account, premium this time with same name, new credit card and bank account?
If not, will be possible to have a new adresse to get verified with the new credit card and bank account ?
The limited one have all my real info, I just did a mistake and singed with business acount instead of premium...even I did explain this to them they did not want to remove the limitation!!
thank you for your help
During the years leading up to Summer-Fall 2004, I'd been doing business on E-Bay and using PayPal to do so. Selling goods was an income for me and I enjoyed their services. However, one of my customers received a product that he claimed was damaged. I asked him to send it back and he did. I stated that the product (a CD video game) wasn't that damaged, but I would have it buffed and re-sent to him. He then said he didn't want it. I told him that the E-Bay listing he bought it from said that it was used, but it worked fine. He then disputed it with E-Bay and PayPal and said he had never gotten the product to begin with.
PayPal froze my merchant account where I couldn't receive or withdrawal money. This crippled my business from this source. They stated that they needed to collect information from me to resolve the issue. I sent all the information and tried contacting them on several occasions, but did not get a response. Over time I tried checking back with them on assistance in releasing the freeze on my PayPal account. I never got a response. It has been almost 2 years since this incident and PayPal will still not respond. PayPal's failure to properly resolve this issue has cost me thousands of dollars in damages from lost business through E-Bay's pay through PayPal system. They do not uphold their word when they say they will properly resolve claims.
Through all of the transactions I completed through PayPal, only one complained. That one caused me to shutdown this aspect of my business. I continue to seek a resolution to this matter, but I feel as though it's futile to do so with this terrible company.
I sold some items on eBay that i got at a fle market, and i dont have any recite showing that I got them, paypal limited my account and wants me to show proof of where I got these items. But there is no way I can do that, any ideas would help!!!!
PayPal requires a copy of certain documents for verification purposes to return your account to regular standing. For speedy processing, use our customized cover sheet.
After receiving 3 paypal transactions for over £300 from a verified paypal member way back in april Paypal then decided it was a fraudulent transaction and debited my account with the money reversed, thus leaving a negative balance and limited my account. They now keep pestering me to add funds to bring the balance back to zero but i dont see why i should as it was their fault things went wrong with the payments--not mine--i sent off the goods in good faith. Now they have converted the neg balance to US$ and then back again to UK£ thus adding to the balance--i.e. i now am due them more money so they say-- and they have the cheek to take £15.00 today without a bye your leave--no authorisation or request given for that either!! I am at a loss to know what to do with them as it just keeps rolling on and getting worse. Will the Financial Ombudsman work or should the Governments depts (FSA etc)get involved as this whole charade is a timebomb waiting to go off here!!
Any help appreciated
I'm a stay-at-home mom who decided to start selling somethings online to make some extra cash on the side. I'm new to Ebay and Paypal so I'm kind of lost. The trouble all began when I started to send money to my husbands Paypal account after my sales, they restricted my account claiming that my account had suspicious activity and asked for everything except a blood sample! After that happened, I became weary of them but pressed ahead. I sold an item on Ebay with a BUY IT NOW price of a little over 1,000 dollars to someone who paid immediately the transaction was fast and pleasant. I thought to mself WOW this is a great customer. Fast forward a month later, she files a chargeback saying the charge was unauthorized and Paypal asks for shippment information and all kinds of other stuff WHICH I PROVIDED!! I MEAN I EVERYTHING!! Right down to the signature from the delivery. They claimed to have disputed it but the credit card company sided with the customer. And I'm royally SCREWED!! Now I have a negative balance of over a thousand dollars. All I wanted was to make some extra cash!! This is so devastating! It's dishearting really!! PAYPAL IS THE DEVIL!! IN TIME THEY WILL GET THEIR JUST DESSERTS!!
PayPal is horrible. I had been using e-bay/paypal for two years with no problems. I got a job at a small computer shop doing tech repairs and such. The owner bought pallets of various refurbished parts, used them in repairs and put the good stuff on e-bay. I began using my own account to list and sell parts for the owner for a percentage of the final sale price. An auction of mine closed and I packed the video card which had sold for shipment the next day. This d*ck takes the card I had packaged(I left around 4:30, auction closed after UPS came) and goes to the UPS store and ships it to someone who bought it in an identical auciton the he had setup unbeknownst to me. I was able to explain this to the patron who had made the purchase and agreed to refund his funds. Slightly later that day I was entering some information to get more "verified", I entered the phone number of the computer shop, and paypal immediately locked my account, cancelled my pending transfers (including the return money), and just basically ****ed me. THis guy I guess had problems previously with some bullshit such as the dual auctions for the same item or something along those lines apparently got that phone number blocked permanently. One transfer that was subsequently cancelled I had intended to use to buy books for the nearly impending semester at the university I was attending. I tried to contact paypal by e-mail and by phone. I talked to many people but I must question the relevance of paypal employing all these morons. Not a single person I talked to could help me in any way. They all would tell me different things I needed to do to resolve the frozen account, needless to say there was no immediate resolution. My account was frozen for 6 months after which my money was transfered to my bank account and my paypal account was closed permanently. It is easy to program your system to lock up when questions arise rather than use some of the company's ample resources to focus on a little customer service. Don't male the mistake I did and use paypal for an important business account. Real businesses have employees who have the necessary power and are willing to help you. PayPal's customer support is nothing more than a group of idiots who were only smart to answer a phone and regergitate a list of most common scenarios and general solutions to various problems which I was not experiencing. fu*k paypal. damn it to hell. My hatred is not unreasonable. consider if you asked your friend to hold your wallet and then they don't give it back for 6 months. You'd be pretty pissed too. fu*k paypal.
hi there guys im new to this site and really wish i found it earlier. i am trading on ebay under user id onlinebitsandbobs in the uk. I haev enjoyed the experience until today!!!!!
PAYPAL ..... heres the story
Over the weekend i sold about £250 worth of bits and bobs which all happily went into paypals account fees were charged etc. I then found a few bits on ebay for my FORD ESCORT GTI, got a bit excited and burned the cash! i purchased a stereo and some other bits and bobs as well as a couple of dvds and some makeup for my girlfriend. Around 15 items in total. Being a decent ebayer i paid by paypal immediately and my funds shrank down to a few quid. none the less i felt a good sense out of my weekend. Got up this morning at 8:30 and found that my paypal account had been limited, as paypal felt that my "activity was none other than dodgy" which i dont understand, i have over 110 successful sales on ebay?? it dont make sense. Then i phoned them and they stated that i need to change my password, security details and all other bits and bobs as well as update my phone number.
Then twenty minutes later i logged onto ebay over a cup of coffee. Looked in my ebay and every single payment i made for my goods from the 26th june - today had been reversed! 35 items in total most already in my hands feedback exchanged etc.
Now what the hell do i do as they will not release my account. I have phoned the police but they told me that they had very little knowledge of paypal/ebay and they dont generally get involved. so please tell me what do i do
Okay, I run a web-based game and it just got off the ground and I have been making $300-$400 a day (on good days).
I have been a Verified Buisness Member on paypal for almost a year, then paypal freezes my account and the reason is they need more info, it says need more info about buisness.
So I click resolve brings me to buisness page, I check its updated add the new info they want and click save. Then it says waiting for your response (WTF I JUST DID RESPOND!) so I wait a few hours and try again every so often. Then I call paypal, I get redirected to a guy who speaks to me in arabic or some indian language then I say, I don't understand you, and he then talks in english...
Now im being told to wait 24 hours to see if it updates if it doesnt then call them again.
WHAT THE HECK?
I sold my XV6700 on Ebay about a month ago for about $480 to a verified seller with a confirmed address through paypal. I then sent the phone out to them via priority mail with delivery confirmation. About 2 weeks later I go to my paypal and notice I have a negative balance due to a possible fraud situation initiated by paypal regarding the payment. So I call them at this number, that they love to hide - 888-221-1161. They tell me that the persons account was not cleared for the funds and that I am SOL cause I didnt use signature verification to ship it, I used Delivery confirmation and Priority mail. Apparently anything over $250, even if you send it to the confirmed address, is not covered wholely by them. Luckily I was able to track down the buyers and they gave me their phone numbers and assured me they were taking care of it through paypal. Paypal rep flat out said I could be working with the buyer on a scam thats why the money was retracted from me. SO they sent paypal a money order and they may credit my account but assume no resposibility. Mind you the buyer left me positive feedback are still registered and basically insinuating by ebay that they are legit. But Paypal cant contact or confirm through Ebay of this fact. PAYPAL SUCKS BADLY. The only thing good about this whole thing is that I think they have to stay on the phone with you no matter what, so you can curse them the **** out! and they just sit there. ****es.
Below you'll see the email I received from Paypal. I was selling thrift store items on ebay (sweb2003)with 100% positive Feedback and great Paypal status. I tried to increase my withdrawal limit on Paypal and they found an old account paypal account I had years ago. Now my paypal account is limited and I have $300 being held for 6 months.

I hope this helps anyone that my have just had their account limited.
should have learned my lesson about 4 years ago. I had a paypal account back then and signed up on a website which I don't remember now, to sell e-books. My Paypal account was immediately frozen. I had no idea why and Paypal would not give me an answer. Since I never used it, I let it go.
Last year I created a new paypal account so my fiance and I could sell stuff on ebay to supplement our income. Everything was going great. We would buy stuff from thrift stores or pull stuff out of the closet. We didn't make a lot but it helped. My fiance had an old broken Cartier watch that she found years ago, which has been sitting in her drawer. We had it fixed and sold it on Ebay for about $1000. We were very excited because we need money to pay the mortgage. PayPal has a limit on the amount you can withdraw from the account ($500), but there is an option to lift the limit. So I decided to lift the limit so I could get take out more than $500 a month. Thats when my problems started.
One of the options to lift your withdrawal limit is to verify you Social Security number. I decided to use that one, and it came back saying that my social security number was being used on another account.
I immidiately called PayPal and they told me that I had a previous account with them, which I had forgotten about, they asked me to send them a copy of my social security card, drivers license and a utility bill. I had nothing to hide so I did.
while I was waiting for a response I decided to withdrawal some of the money using my PayPal credit credit through an ATM machine. I made a withdrawal of $400, and decided to try it again the next day and it worked. I realized that I could withdrawal more than $500 a month if I did it through the atm machine, so I planned to take another $300 from my account the next day and leave enough in my Paypal account to pay my ebay fees.
Unfortunately before I got to the ATM machine the next day, Paypal had sent me an email saying my account was limited because my account is now linked with an old account that was shutdown for ebook selling.
I spoke with everyone I could at Paypal to explain the situation but no one would listen. Now I have to wait 180 days to get the remaining $317 from my paypal account.
I thought Paypal might have changed since ebay bought them. But I was wrong, Paypal SUCKS. I have 100% positive feedback on Ebay and excellent standing with my new account at Paypal. Everything is legitimate with no complaints from anyone. Why can't they see that? I have done nothing wrong!
A word of advise for those that use Paypal, try to find an alternative. Your money could get held for 6 months (180 days)and there is nothing you can do about.
I called Ebay and they said there is nothing they can do because even though Ebay owns Paypal they are separate entities.
I will never attempt to use PayPal again and I am not sure I will use Ebay again. Hopefully I get my money after my hold time is completed.
I sold an item to someone on Ebay for over $300. The buyer had the item for over a MONTH then decided they wanted a refund. I explained to them how my refund policy works, and given that they had the product for over a month already, I decided it was best to not refund it. So of course the buyer wanted to be difficult now and went ahead and filed a complaint with Paypal. I had closed my account a few weeks prior to this, because I had already had enough of Paypal's stupid issues, but the complaint apparently went through anyways and a week or so later I received an email from them saying that the "complaint" had resolved and more than half of the money would be given back to the buyer! Absurd i thought, since the buyer hadn't even returned anything to me! TODAY i got some notice in the mail from a collections agency demanding the remaining amount I apparently owe Paypal from my old, closed account. SO now I lost a $350 product, as well as $175 which is to be sent to paypal in 10 days. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO ABOUT THIS!?!?! This is rediculous!!!
So I open a PayPal account to sell some old baseball cards I had lying around, I opened the account and all seemed to be going good but then I tried to log into my account to purchase and print shipping labels so I could mail my buyers the cards the paid for when I find out that my account was limited! After verifying as much information as I could I was left with 2 IMPOSSIBLE steps to complete and those steps are Verifying location which I cannot do because I only have a cell phone, not a land line phone and the second step is providing PayPal with invoices and suppliers list, this is the tricky part, even after calling and e-mailing PayPal all day explaining that I can't provide inovoices and supplier information because these cards have either been in my collection for 10+ years or they were pulled from packs that I purchased months or even years ago from places like 711 and WalMart, etc they decided to part ways with me, thus holding my funds for 180 days! This is so wrong because now my very valueable baseball cards are gone and I have nothing to show for it at all for 6 months!
I am joining the fight against PayPal and was hoping someone could provide me with a way I could make PP see the error in their ways! Any info is helpful thank you!
TAKE ME BACK TO THE TOP OF THE PAGE!
