I've lost about four thousand dollars because of chargebacks and frauds via PayPal. I had no defense. PayPal didn't help me at all, even though from my side I did everything well and never cheat a customer. This payment system really sucks and I hate it. I will use it untill I will get approved by VeriSign.

I never even joined Paypal, just visited their site once, and after several emails telling me my (nonexistent) account was having problems, they write me to say another user has been added to my account....someone I don't even know. There's no way to contact Paypal without logging in. What can Paypal do to me if I never even joined?I'll write the person whose email Paypal sent me to tell them I don't have an account.

I ordered something online and i thought there was enough money in my regular Chase Account to cover the charges. Apparently, my wife removed the money from the account. PayPal.com has attempted to collect the funds over 3-4 times already, and still have another attempt pending. I contacted PayPal.com to inquire about the amount of time they attempted to retrive money and they simply said the system is setup to do that -- charge your account a set amount of time before stopping. Anyone with common sense knows if you keep attempting to charge an over-drawn account will result in fees being charged to that account.

I asked her to cancel the pending attempt and she said she could not. She didn't have the ability to. I've never heard of such a thing. I think they are SCAMMERS for sure. I did not ordered a product, i ordered a service, which i can only use if paid for. Therefore, if there's insufficient funds, PayPal should stop making attempts agains our bank account that's charged $30.00 for each attempt.

To make this worst, my PayPal account has suddenly become negative. So both my PayPal.com and my regular bank account is severly over-drawn over a service that cost less than $20.00.

When we contacted PayPal about these problems, i was told i did sign an agreement and basically i'll have to bite another $30.00 fee or put $11.45 in the bank to prevent the fee from being charged (which i did once i realized they were going to seriously ruin my bank account - Good thing I noticed). 1 attempt, fine, i would live with the $30.00 charge, but now it's like $120.00. Man, that's cold!

Hi Everyone. I am a Canadian, and started using paypal on occasion almost a year ago, keeping minimal amounts of cash in the account to cover the minimal number of eBay purchases I made.

I had $27.49 in my account, and had a day earlier completed the paypal credit card verification process, a process that, upon completion, paypal promised a $2.45 credit towards my first purchase.

The next day, I purchased an item that, with foreign exchange, came out to $30.29. So, $27.49 + $2.45 = $29.94, so the balance of the transaction would be $0.35, right? 35 cents.

Paypal decides they want $2.80 from my bank account, and without warning or explicit authorization, after I initiated the payment, they attempted to take $2.80 from the bank account.

The problem is..the bank account held a little over $1, and the bank bounced the payment and applied a $35 not sufficient funds fee. Of course, a day later, a credit for $2.45 shows up in the account relating to the credit card verification transaction. Paypal's site also represented that the transaction was 'instant' and has been completed -- my bank has informed me that they didn't pay not so much as a dime to paypal from my bank account.

I am going in on Monday and speaking with the branch staff as to what can be done about the $35 service charge -- I am fully prepared to take my business and my other accounts elsewhere if they cannot waive it. From the sounds of things, paypal keeps trying to collect from the bank accounts, even if they are not collecting the proper amount, so I should close the account altogether, right? And what about the credit card? I know it is absolutely stupid to have put the CC into their system, but am I at serious risk because of this?

I had someone charge myself back, through Paypal, for three payments of $500 + $500 + $105, in USD currency. So after disputing with Paypal for months and months, they finally refund me the two payments of $500 + $500. For some reason they didn't refund me the $105 and I had a $185.53 USD negative balance. So I wondered why they didn’t refund me the payment of $105 and how did I obtain the extra amount of money 185.53-105= $80.53 extra. So Paypal told me that it is a currency difference and that I was also charged $30 USD for the dispute ($10 each per dispute).

I have another account that has “Limited Access” (which has a fair amount of money in it) due to my other account being negative.

So I keep getting in touch with Paypal through phone and email and it started to look promising. However then NCO sent me a letter, explaining to pay this debt. So I immediately sent NCO the money order because I just wanted my money from the other account, that has limited access, and plus I didn't want a bad credit rating. Then after I sent the money, I get an email from Paypal saying :

“Thank you for contacting PayPal. We apologize for the delay in
responding to your service request.

Your PayPal Account was locked from further use because it contained
negative balance for more then 90 days.

As a one time courtesy, we are forgiving the debt and crediting your
account for the negative amount. We have initiated the process to
remove the negative balance from your PayPal Account.

Once the negative balance on your account is credited, we will unlock
your PayPal account. Please allow 5-7 business days for the account
balance to be updated. You will receive an email notification once your
account is unlocked.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.”

Please note that Paypal sent me the email on a Sunday and that I sent NCO the Money Order on the Friday. Therefore, NCO would not have my money order at least until the Monday, since the no mail carrier works during the weekend.

So now I did not even need to pay that debt, since Paypal has waved it. It’s been well over 7 business days and my account is still not unlocked and my other account has not be restored to Normal Access from limited access.

Let’s say they eventually unfreeze my one account and restore the negative balance. Then they put my other account access back to normal. What happens to that $185.53 USD that I sent NCO!?

I sold a Rolex on Ebay, received the payment from the guy in California, mailed through the US post office & insured it. The guy claims he never received the watch. Put a claim in with PayPal. I had to wait 21 days with the post office before I could even file my claim. Within 3 weeks PayPal refunded his money, taking it out of my VISA. Now this guy could have my watch and he has my money. PayPal didn't give me enough time to go through the Post Office proccess, they paid way to quickly.

On the 28th of June 2005 I won a bid for a generator on eBay $1150.00. I then had to sign up with Pay Pal to pay for the bid (the worst thing I could ever have done) After paying the amount indicated by the Pay Pal site I received an email from the seller requesting an extra $28 for the Pay Pal fee.
I then contacted Pay Pal regarding this matter and they said they would email the seller informing him that it was against their policy for him to make me pay the fee. A few days later I received a phone call from the seller requesting I remove the dispute regarding the transaction and send him the extra $28 plus $10 for insurance so he can send the goods. This was the first time I was aware that the dispute was officially logged. I then contacted Pay Pal and asked them to release the funds as I was now sick and tired of all the bullshit and just wanted the generator. They then informed me that this was not a wise thing to do, as they would not have anything further to do with the transaction. I.e. if he sent me a box of bricks and not a generator. I asked how long the dispute would be and he said about 10 days of which 4 had already passed. I accepted their advice very grudgingly as all I wanted was the generator. I have since had numerous calls from the seller trying to assure me that Pay Pal was wrong and that there was no problem cancelling the dispute. I just told him to wait until the dispute was resolved.
I have since received a very annoying email from eBay saying I was in contravention of their rules. There is no communication between Pay Pal and eBay. I had to navigate my way through the minefield that eBay’s web site is to contact them by email and spend my valuable time writing. They have no contact phone number.
I received another call from the seller yesterday (by this stage he is becoming a pest and sounds desperate) I told him that I would contact Pay Pal once more and resolve the issue. I was going to cancel the dispute.
Before I had even contacted Pay Pal I received a message from a lady in the sellers office to contact her.
On contacting her I was told that they had had enough of the issue and were going to report me to eBay for non-payment. Well that was the wrong thing to do, as no matter how desperate I was for a Generator I will not buy it from them on principal now. I then contacted Pay Pal and told them all I want now is my money back as the savings I may have made on this generator have now been lost in all the time wasted. I will buy one from a local shop. I requested that eBay and Pay Pal remove me from their systems, as this was the first and last purchase I make over the Internet. I said I would also be advising others the same. I was also informed by a different person at Pay Pal that disputes can take up to 40 days before I get my money back. The first person lied to me about the 10 days. Who is collecting the interest on my money????
Today I received a response from Pay Pal indicating that the seller was found to be in the wrong and that under their policy I would be getting $375 back. The seller has sent them the refund and they are still hanging on to it

So I sold something to somebody on PayPal (it wasn't through eBay) and I sent it First Class because I offered free shipping on the product.

The guy now claims that he never recieved it yet when I showed him the reciept I sent it he FILED A COMPLAINT ON ME! So now the only option I have is 1) Refund him the full money or 2) Provide Tracking Information.

That's the only options I have, I don't have a tracking number because it was sent First Class and there is no tracking information for that and I don't want to refund the full money because I'LL be out! I don't have the product anymore. What am I supposed to do?

If I remove my Bank Account and Credit Card/Debit Card information off of PayPal, can they still deduct money out?

What happens if a complaint is filed and you don't respond for 10 days, it says they will automatically win, but does that mean PayPal will automatically refund their money from my account? I don't know what to do because I don't want to refund his money (because I don't have the item) and I can't provide Tracking Information because I sent it USPS First Class which has no tracking service.

This is the last straw. Someone bought an online account from me via paypal and then decided to scam me by reversing the charge a few weeks later. This put me in the -500$ range. I told them my side of the story, which naturally meant nothing to to them. They didn't even cross check the ip's to who was using the acc, etc. They just decided to let another scammer continue on. Then, some guy decided to send me 120$ for another item to that account without me authorizing it. I told him I no longer accept paypal and I'd have to refund his payment. I then chose to refund his payment, and since I was in the negatives, they wrote an echeck from my BANK ACCOUNT which i didn't authorize. Then i called those ****in ****s at paypal and they each told me contradicting information. I let the people have it and still came up with nothing. I'm glad, however, to go around informing people to never use paypal. I sent an email to the entire system development department at work (about 2,000 people) telling them about my story and warning them never to use it. I also take pride in telling people that I meet if the subject comes up to never use the site. I hope I cost them many customers because of their shitty service. As always, us sellers have to take a loss because of a terrible company. I wish I recorded the conversation I had with them. *sigh*

My account was limited. Message 3018 popped up everytime i tried to log on, anyways for about a month i could not log on. I spoke to Jeff at paypal and he was able to allow me to log on. Wen i loged in the problem resolution was to send a fax and verfiy my credit card. I did this. 3 months later, i'm still limited. I spoke to Laura ths weekend, and she explained that the fax i sent was "too dark". My checking account, and credit card are verfied. I explained from frustration that i wanted my account closed. Laura said we can not close your account untill you verify with the fax. I expalined that i wanted my personal information removed from the payapl system. After about 10 minuteds of arguing, she put her manager Scott on. He explained that paypal "holds your personal information for up to seven years for tax purposes". If you read there user agreement it does not state anywhere that they do this and they do. I work at a bank and we NEVER keep personal info such as bank account and credit card info. We close ths account and keep a record of name and address. They are simply doing this to profit from third party sales. READ THERE USER AGREEMENT!! There are loop holes. Now i have to close my aco**** and credit card, because paypal does not know how to run a company. Also, so you know Paypal makes decisions, and thats it. You can not contact anyone else or speak farther then the manager. Every good company has a customer service problem centre or an obunsnman to speak to. Whos watching the paypal employees? no one. Close your account and remove your personal info first.

My name is Gerald King III. I am writing you because I have a grievance with eBay and Paypal. Because of someone else's scandalous actions, I have lost nearly $2,000.00 in money and product, but I'm not the only one affected by the fraudulent behavior. My father, whom has no affiliation whatsoever to any of my transactions, is also suffering losses from one person's con. Here's our story:

On June 10, 2005, I placed an IBM T40 laptop on eBay to sell. I paid eBay to list the item on its auction Web site, and I also paid for the "Buy It Now" feature. I had to give eBay a percentage of the price for which the laptop sold. The percentage is as follows: 5.25% of the initial $25.00 ($1.31), plus 2.75% of the remaining closing value balance ($25.01 to $1, 000.00). The item sold on eBay on July 13, 2005, at 12:06 PDT for $1000.00 with the "Buy It Now" feature by Chung-Yen Chao through Paypal.
The Paypal account showed Mr. Chao was a member. The e-mails he sent me came from the address registered to the verified Paypal account. The customer wanted to have the item shipped to Russia to a cousin, and I told him that if he paid for the shipping, I would send it to any place he wanted me to. After all, the laptop was then his. The customer sent another $43.00 to my Paypal account from his account for the shipping cost of the laptop through USPS to Russia. (Mr. Chao wanted it shipped through USPS because this was the cheapest way to send the item.) The following day, June 14, 2005, at 1:04 p.m., I shipped the laptop to the specified address in Russia and e-mailed Mr. Chao, ensuring him the item had been shipped via USPS. On Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at 1:52 p.m., Mr. Chao e-mailed me back. He wrote that he "liked doing business with me and he thanked me.”
The following morning, I had an e-mail from Paypal stating that my account had been "frozen" because I had received unauthorized funds from Chung-Yen Chao's account. Since I had already shipped the laptop to Russia, you might imagine I was a bit aggravated when I realized this was all a big scam. Apparently, after I e-mailed Mr. Chao with the shipping information, he called Paypal and said the entire transaction was compromised and unauthorized. So, Mr. Chao (the criminal) not only gets $1043.00 back, he gets a laptop computer as well. And I'm left holding the bag ... a very empty bag.
Hence, I started a campaign to recover my lost funds. I called Paypal, and they said I was covered by Seller Protection and that they would send me an e-mail that I needed to reply to with the information they requested so the issue could be resolved. I received the e-mail and replied to it within the same day. I did not hear back from Paypal for a week.
I called Paypal, and they stated the account was still under investigation. Every attempt I have made to work this out with Paypal has been unsuccessful. They wanted to give me the runaround stating that I agreed to their terms when I signed up and that there was nothing I could do. I told them I was going to contact the Better Business Bureau and the attorney general if I
had to. They said to go ahead because there was nothing anyone could do.
I researched and found direct numbers to Paypal executives, and I called a few. They where not available at the time, so I left messages. I received a call back from a person claiming to represent Paypal, but he was not an executive. The man told me he understood why I was so upset. He said he saw that I was ripped off, but being that it's $1000.00 and I sent the item to Russia when the Paypal member was in the United States, there is nothing Paypal could do. I was told I would have to accept my losses. Well, I just can't accept that.
But, wait, the worst is yet to come.
As I briefly mentioned before, my father is also suffering losses from Mr. Chao's fraud. The day I shipped out the laptop to Russia, I conducted another -- completely separate -- transaction with my father who lives in another part of the country. I sent $900 to my father's Paypal account, because I owed him money. On July 18, 2005, exactly one month and five days after this transaction occurred, Paypal froze my father's account and deducted $900 from his balance. How is this right?
He is perhaps the biggest loser in this entire scenario. He had nothing to do with Mr. Chao or our transaction, yet he still did not get the money I owed him.
Paypal did nothing to protect me or my father from this transaction. They did everything they could to protect the person who has frauded me. I have researched on the Web about Paypal and noticed this is not the first time something like this has occurred. Paypal seems to protect wrong-doers quite often.
Please review my case and help me and my father end this nightmare with Paypal. The resolution I am looking for is to be credited the amount they are deducting from my account ($1043.00) and my father's account ($900.00).
Attached are all the e-mails from Mr. Chao and Paypal regarding this incident. Also attached are the e-mails from Paypal to my father stating his account was deducted for this transaction.

Im convinced everyone at paypal is a complete idiot.

Real Simple. I ordered some personalized wedding napkins on Ebay. Paid $40
(Memorablewedding)
Simply ordered YELLOW napkins with foil print.

When I received them, the napkins were GREEN, with flat purple ink, not foil. Then to top it off, they put 2005, instead of 2006

I sent an email to the seller, and resent $10 through paypal, for her to redo them for shipping prices.

The wench comes back and says "you will have to pay full price" THE NERVE!
She returned the $10 shipping. I noticed all her bad feedbacks.

I made a complaint with paypal. Thinking it was a no brainer, it took forver. Then 6 weeks later I get an email saying that PAYPAL sided with the seller!

I lost my fricking mind. Sure its only $40 but, gimme a break. I sell on Ebay, and Ive been in the wrong before, and returned moneys, out of clear conscience.

It took 6 phone calls, over a week and then i get a call from a Manager/Supervisor saying they would grant me a one time reimbursement of $30

How are they getting away with this.

Do they normally side with the sellers or the buyers?
Good day

Paypal has limited my account and after numerous request for information the situation doesn't seem to resolve the matter. I'm located in Malaysia which is in Asia and i am wondering should i go on sending all the details that paypal required which i think most of it is irrelevant. And can anyone tell me if the 180 days refund applies to me or just US residents. Appreciate what ever you guys can contribute..Thanx....

Hi everyone,

I was a long time Paypal user with miniumal problems, held a premier account, never really had to call them and never really had problems until a few months ago.

A few months ago a former friend/employee who had recently moved to Oklahoma called me and said he had sold some of his Cisco equipment and had paypal payments but lost his debit card and wanted to know if he could send it to me and I could Western Union them to him.

This guy worked for me for 2 years and I know him well, we've had dinner, he's been over to my house before we moved etc so I figured no big deal, anyhow, I said OK and he sent one paypal payment for 500.00, which I withdrew and Western Unioned to him, then called and said something else sold would I mind doing it agian, so I did another one for 400.00. He called, thanked me and that was that.

Next thing I know, 4 days later I get emails from Paypal saying that it appears the funds are fraudulent and they are investigating, I call in, explain the situation to someone and they said they will get back to me with more info ASAP. So, 2 days passes and then I get an email saying the funds were fraudulent and they reversed the charges, taking my account to roughly a -900.00 balance. So, now Im freaking out, I call Paypal no less than 30 times, provide the payment notifications that THIS GUY sent to me TELLING me to western union it FROM the email the paypal is listed too. THe guys last name MATCHES the domain on the whois lookup, I have 15 emails from the guy showing that I was the one scammed, I provided headers, emails, western union reciepts for the SAME amounts to the GUYS FREAKING NAME listed on the paypal account that was suppose to be fraudulent. They all say, ok we will get back to you, when they do they say "Sorry, this isn't covered by seller protection" WTF?!?!

I've since sent letters to their SVP of Operations, Legal VP, and anyone else I could find (no response), I've called their complaint numbers but those people say they cant do anything. Its covered by seller protection.

Well now, they wont return calls, they have forward the bill to a collections agency to collect and Im pissed. HOW can a company release funds to a users account who can WITHDRAW THEM WITHOUT ****ing verifying that they are LEGIT?!?

Its ridulious that I cant even get someone to speak to me intelligently about it.

Obviously there is the issue with the deadbeat friend who took the money and ran, never hearing from him agian, but how a company stands behind their blantent scammers is insane. Domain the email came from registered to the PAYPAL address, NAMES listed in the discription of the payment BY my friend, both mine and his, PROVING he is the one requesting, and Western Union RECEIPTS WITH HIS NAME for the SAME amounts and confirmed picked up by him.

This company should be shutdown.

Anyone who could provide me with suggestions on things to do, people to contact, lawyers who are doing class-actions on these type of things etc would be appriciated.

HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!

I am having a problem with PayPal... and it sounds like it's not an unusual one.

They had been trying to make withdrawals from my account. Repeatedly. For $500 or more, and usually between 5-11 times a day!!!!

They infuriated my bank, who froze all my finances. The bank called me and let me know what was going on. NOW, PayPal is trying to say I owe them money, and, they've been EMAILING PEOPLE I HAD TRANSACTIONS WITH - telling them not to send me any goods I may have have pais for via PayPal.

Now, merchants are really angry with me - and refuse to send me things I PAID FOR!!!!!! Why? Because PayPal actually took money away from some of them - the ones who had the cash still sitting in their accounts. Some, aren't sending me the goods, even though PayPal was unable to reverse the payment, because PayPal told them the goods were purchased with "unauthorized funds". Uh... PARDON????? I have bank statements proving that cash was in my account, and that it was taken out to pay every person I purchased something from.

I'm sorry. But, WTF. I paid these people with my own hard earned cash. Even if I did owe PayPal cash, I sure as hell don't owe them the amount that totals up from all the money they took from people I paid.

I can't BELIEVE this is going on!!!!!!

Now they are saying they want my credit card number so they can "verify" the account, and I'm sorry, I AM NOT giving them a god damn thing. I had to shut down all my bank accounts that they had access to, and had to reopen them. Thank goodness I have such a good bank!!! The problem now is all the merchants who want money. I can't afford to pay them all a second time, and PayPal sent out these emails about me, making it sound like I'm some kind of freakin' criminal or something, so, they're all upset and wigging out on me.

I don't know what to do. I am in SHOCK.

I was selling some items on ebay (penny items) all intangible. I also sold some $50 wholesale lists then (not through eBay) three websites all totalling $2500.

Paypal first limited me and made me prove my ID with SS#, phone verification, etc then I decided to move that money out right after. A few days later I get ANOTHER email stating they want proof of sufficient INVENTORY, where the HELL do they get off asking for that? What's more is they wanted shipping proof for about 20 transactions ALL OF WHICH were intangible items and had they LOOKED at them they would have seen that. After faxing the info Sunday I get this email:

Dear Peter Nilles,

Now WHERE do they get off STOPPING pending deposits to my bank amounting to $1800 and WHY do they think I'll sit idly by for 6 months so they can dick me over on $1800 for NO reason?!?

well basically i set up a ebay and paypal account and bought a few things, i checked my bank account and noticed the money wasnt taken out so i thought my bank account was making errors in my favour as i wasnt being charged and money wasnt being taken out, they didnt charge my account for 3 months, so i bought aload of stuff mobiles phones digitatal cameras when the newest phone came out i would buy it then suddenly it all charged to my account at once when there wasnt enough money in my bank there was a delay so now i owe £511 to paypal not my bank account because they refused to pay it. Its like paypal pay ebay then take the money out later so they can pay even if u aint got money. My terms and conditions asked me to tick a box to say im over 18. altough this aint legal because i cant make a legal contract under 18. They dont know im 16 but my friend done this because i told him about it and they phoned him and asked for the money otherwise they will remove his stuff ( they dont know hes 16). they sent me this message

Although we have sent numerous communications to you, we have not received reimbursement for this negative balance. If you do not add funds immediately, we may turn your account over to a collection agency or to our attorneys to recover the money owed.
can i be legally made to pay this? I have a negative balance and they want me to pay it im under 18 what can i do?

paypal limited my account saying my account linked to another account which has unresolved outstanding issues, they only tell me a @gmail.com
but I don\'t even know what and whose account that is. I email and even called them, they keep saying they cannot tell me what it is exactly that account is..

this is so unreasonable, they told me to resolved issue of account which does not even belong to me,

what can I do on this/???? thank you

Hi, this is the first time I use this wonderful site. thanks my friend recommended to me.

Here is my story.

Since last three weeks, I have got the problem that I couldn't receive payments from all my winners who use PayPal (US users are ok). Everytime they send me the money through paypal, there is a error code 3005 come out on the paypal web page.
The big problem is...their paypal or bank accounts did deduct their money, however I got nothing in my paypal account. For example, one winner has tried 5 times to send me $65, his paypal deducted him $65*5=$325. I still got nothing.
All my international buyers are having the same problem to send me the money.
I HAVE CALLED PAYPAL more than 10 TIMES, they all keep saying that no problem with my account. Finally they PROMISED me they would ask the technicians to call me back. However, i never get their call.
All the paypal people who served me are fxxking useless and arrogant.
I asked them when the problem can be solved. They said, "maybe tommorow, maybe a week or maybe a month, we don't know". They also said "don't use PayPal if you have problem with it". What the hell >_<

I want to see if any members here have got the same experience? If yes, please give me some ideas.
Million thanks!!!

For anyone who sells automobiles on ebay BEWARE!!! I am a top level power seller and have well over 600 transactions through paypal were on average paypal gets close to $12.00 for each. I sold a car to a person in MD (I will call him Mr. X). Mr. X came in person to the dealership and picked up the car. I have a copy of his drivers license, his inusurance and also his signature on the buyers order. Mr. X received a temporary plate for the car so he was even issued a temporary tag which he is still driving on. Paypal cleared this Mr. X funds so he came and took the car. Over a week later paypal puts a freeze on the funds actually intercepting one of my electronic deposits to get the $500 back. Now my only hopes of getting the money back is through the paypal seller protection policy. Well Paypal informs me that it is not covered as the goods were hand delivered. Wow!!! a way out of everything. Summary: Paypal says the funds are good, so I let the car go, the funds a week later end up not being good, paypal punishes me for there lack of making sure they had the money before they gave it to me. It just blows my mind how they can do no wrong!!! Any legal advice is appreciated. Thanks to All.

They have frozen my account..and other people i know..i spent everday for two weeks, in emails and on the phone..i told them they will not bully me, nor intimidate me..i will call everyday...i don't mind. i also have every single email (that i own, and had others do it) create a personal signature stating something like this...
DO YOU DEAL WITH PAYPAL?
BEWARE!! IF YOU ARE A BUYER OR SELLER, THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY
IT HAS HAPPENED TO COUNTLESS OTHERS

I have had a premier account for almost 2 and a half years with no problems what so ever. A ggod two years ago I built a website to sell things, so opened a business account purly for the website. I had taken just short of £1500, and Paypal froze my account for no reason what so ever, luckily people got their money back, but I had to cease trading as Paypal was my main payment method. So, it has taken nearly all of that two years to try and sort it out, and get back my own money that was in the account. 3 months ago, I phoned Paypal, because I wanted to use the bank account attatched to the business account, but was still having trouble from my business account. So instead of trying to help, I found them quite rude and ignorant, and the phone operators can be very smug, almost laughing at you because of your predicament, they have froze this account, and it has been over a week since they were meant to get back to me. So thanks for your great service paypal. PayPal Rating = Z-

Hello,

I have a situation that I'm not sure can be resolved. Reading all this has made me decide that Pay Pal is no longer going to handle any of my transactions, but I have one I need help with.

I play EverQuest and as many of you know the sale of virtual money and items is HUGE. I dont wish to deal with the resellers of this property as they give you a fraction of the true "value" so that they can make money. Recently I sold an individual platinum (the form of currency sold in EverQuest most frequently) Specifically I sold this individual 1 million platinum for $ 450.00. He paid with his Pay Pal account I saw the payment then started the transfer of the $450.00 to my personal bank. Seeing the money in my Pay Pal account I logged in and gave the individual the platinum. The VERY next day the $450.00 was being "Held" When I contacted Pay Pal they said that the account being so new it was being reviewed. I asked SPECIFICALLY if this was a situation where someone had used fradulant funds, they said no the buyer was legit, the funds were there..it was just under review. FIVE DAYS LATER PayPal reverses the credit to my account and tells me "The buyers account did not have sufficient funds to secure the payment" I was and still am PISSED... What the hell is thier purpopse? TO SECURE PAYMENTS, So this guy pays me they "secure it" then a couple days later go "Oh our bad, it wasn't really there" Now when I call I get morons who say "Sir" fifty times in 30 seconds and nothing else of importance. Is there liability there? They claim this buyers account is valid although in the same breath they say they can't release any information concerning it. The platinum was advertised over a web site called Player Auctions, those people banned this buyer for fraud and refunded the money I'd been charged for them handling my auction.

So what do I do with this situation? Do I go to the Attorney General and Feds to go get this "buyer" for fraud? E-Commerce / Inter-state fraud / theft? Do I file suit against Pay Pal. They claim there is no fradulant activity ... um HELLO? He has 1 million plat, i dont have 450 bucks? seems to be fraud to me? I'm at a loss I just want my 450 bucks. It was very important to myself and my family, we're not rich and having hard times and this "company" that was supposed to make things more secure and easier has hurt me more than if I'd been mugged on the street.

If I had the ability I'd go look for this buffoon myself or visit PayPal and sit on someones desk until they resolved it, but I can't I'm disabled with a wife that works insane hours to keep four kids in what they need. 450 bucks were my kids new school supplies, clothes and a couple bills....thanks PayPal for "enriching my life"

My paypal account is saying that I have recieved unauthorised funds. My friend sent me a payment the other day and I trans it immdietly to my bank via paypal. It went through as completed, and now reads:

4 Mar. 2005 Transfer To Bank Account Completed Details -£247.00 GBP £0.00 GBP -£247.00 GBP

Now this is on the very top of my paypal payments section:

7 Mar. 2005 Temporary Hold By PayPal Placed Details -£379.00 GBP £13.09 GBP -£365.91 GBP -£365.00 GBP

(£118 was sent to someone else.)

So my question is this: will that money I trans'd into my account still go through, I mean it's completed but I was expecting it to clear on Thurs or Friday (giving them 5-7 days as they state for money to clear through to your bank account). I presume I will because surely the account wouldn't be £379 minus would it? - Since they would have the £247 that was going into my account.

What do you guys think?

Registerfly.com , one of the internet's biggest registrars had it's Paypal account locked.
The Paypal option on their site is gone but with a manual check i got to that page and this is the message i get from Paypal:

Just so you know, it happens to anyone.

bought a piece of exercise equipment, upon delivery it was less than advertised. I filed a complaint against the seller using Their "buyer protection program". Well , after going back and forth for a month (now I have no recourse with my credit card), they want me to file a police report. I am not accusing the seller of fraud, all I am alleging is a misunderstanding of their advertising (which was plenty clear). The police refuses to file a report unless I am accusing someone of a crime, which is reasonable, so my claim is not valid. The notion that they will do the right thing in an expeditious and efficient fashion is a falacy, they drag their feet until you lose your options with the credit card and they place an obstacle that one of the parties can not overcome or just plainly gives up. NO MORE PAY PAL, I can not wait for google to set up their system

I had some $1,300 in my Paypal account when PayPal told me that they would be running a credit check on my name. I told them I do not authorize such a credit check because I'm not asking for credit nor a PayPal credit card. They went on and did it anyway. Then they froze my account, because Equifax (is there an equifaxsucks.com?) informed them of a small, tine, insignificant blemish on my credit history totaling less than $1.45. PayPal froze my account and are going to hold my money for 6 months unless somebody wanteda chargeback. I NEVER APPLIED FOR CREDIT! Do they have the right to do this? I am never using paypal again and would not recomend it to ANYONE EVER!!! I know that they noticed that I don't leave money in my account very long and froze my account the moment a large sum of money came in. I think they are just trying to make a killing on interest. I got my money back by refunding to a previous customer and arranging another form of payment.

Here's the story, I've sold one item around 180.00USD on June 16th on ebay.
I closed my PayPal account last week since I refuse to use PayPal anymore. Well, something happens, After one month......the buyer filed a chargeback , It was so disgusting!! I received 2 emails about chargeback informations from PayPal today. What can I do????????? Ignore this or contact PayPal??? My PP account was closed already by myself 1 weeks ago!
NOW, WHAT CAN I DO???????
I'll appreciate if someone can help!
Thank you!

I won money and I opened a paypal account my question is how do I get my money without giving them any info I am not giving my bank info or any of my credit card info to get friggin $20 If it's my damn money why won't they give it to me? I tried to get a check mailed and they want my bank info WHY? Then I said well I'll use it online to buy something and when I was checking out they wanted my credit card info. What's going on If I would have known this I would have never agreed to accept the money through paypal. Can I just send the money back to the guy I won it from? Is it safe to give them my banking info? I hope someone answers me thanks.

I signed up for PayPal about a year ago, but never got around to using it (Thank God).

I gave them my bank account information, and the promptly put some small change into the account to make sure it was the correct account. The small change showed up, so I asumed everything was okay. Then, about 4 months ago I started receiving messages (supposedly from PayPal) that someone had tried to access my account, sometimes from overseas. Then today I got an e-mail (again supposedly from Pay Pal) stating that I had added a new e-mail address (jason38@yahoo.com) to the my account, and that they were suspending the account.

Since I never used the account at all, and because I did not try to ad the jason38 e-mail adress to the account I called PayPal to make a complaint. I got some young, rude, wise guy on the phone who asked me to verify my Name, Phone Number, E-mail Address and Bank Account Number. Everything went fine until I got to the Bank Account Number. He told me that my account number, which they had already used to put money into my account, was not the account number they NOW had on file.

When I asked about their security system, and asked how someone from "overseas" could access my account, and how "jason38" could request adding his address to my account, I was told that several "false" e-mails had been sent from someone impersonating PayPal.

Then I mentioned that even if that was true how could they have an incorrect Bank Account Number for me now, when they had used it before? This young man's ressponse was tht I must have made a typographical error when I submitted my information. When I asked how that was possissble when they had already put money into the only Bank Account I had, he got defensive (no wonder) and sais that the fault must be mine, and that I should check with my bank to see if I had two bank account numbers.

I told him that was absurd, and that the only reason I was going to contact my bank was to notify them not to give PayPal or (anyone else) access to my account. When I asked him waht PayPal was going to do about this problem on their end, he informed me that unless I gave him the bank account number they had on the account (which was wrong, and which I obviously did not know) they wouldn't do anything.

I did not ask them for any personal or business information ont my account, or on the account number they had on record. So, there was no breach of confidentiallity on either their part or mine. But, if I, as a business man, or employee for PayPal, knew there was a problem with an account of one of my customers, I would do some checking from my end; not just tell the customer it was their problem.

I then this young man that I would be making a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, and to the US Attorney General's office. He was not too happy with me after that, and kept trying to convince me that the fault was mine. So, I eventually hung up on him.

Even if the e-mails I received were false, as in not form PayPal, something is drastically wrong with their system. My suggestion; don't use them, and file complaints.

Hi there

I believe pay pal has woke up the wrong person me! I thought a lot of people where saying things that where not so true about the company pay pal. But this is how it goes pay pal seems to have the power to find out when there is large amounts of money in your account. But when trying to talk with them about why at that Monet you will get your account lock for what ever reason. You then will lose the ability to log in your account and then your money is stuck. Ok this is what happen to me. I hired a programmer in china that I think is doing a great job. But in china when signing up to pay pal they don’t ask for a bank account to get it working they don’t ask for a lot of things plus my guy don’t have the ability to read all the English they way he should but. One day I sent money then again and again little did he tell me that his money was just pilling no biggy he thought I will use this like a bank to store my money till I get a bank account. Will then one day he tells me that his account got lock and he says hey maybe it is because he forgot his password I laugh because
I have work day and night with him and have never seen him forget one thing so I say I would help I called pay pal and talk with a lot of people they all told me the same thing that he need a photo id and to fax them a PHOTO ID. I was like what I mean I know all the last transactions I sent and my wife sent some from her account. And he know what he receive CALL “HIIM I said and they said sr we don’t do that I said he don’t have a photo id since he don’t drive he rides a bike for god sake it is china then I talk with a lady from the global part of pay pal she told me watch it you are moving money threw pay pal to china and they at anytime can lock your account I was like wow you guy don’t play around with people you like stealing money or something hey and she say no she was understanding me to the point she said to me. I say you want a photo id she said yes I said do you have a photo id on recorder for my coder and she said no. I said do you have his social she said no I said do you have anything that proves that he is he. And she said no. I said yeah one thing a phone number in china call it now and see who picks up ask the person if they lost there password or got there account lock this is the only real proof and she had a chines lady call him and they still say they can help him out will now all the money I sent him is lock and cant come back or go to him! This is wrong and I am not going to sit by and let this happen. I am the owner of findmyerror.com and www.goshee.com and www.whazup-chat.com and I want people to know that pay pal his piss of the wrong techs. For people who need help with the info on this company send me email it is easy to get info on companies specially when they cause problems like this.

looked at my bank account today and noticed that paypal had done not one but 2 reversals on my account via ach reversal. I thought they were no longer authorized to do so? The funny thing is where is the money that they have taken from my bank account? It isn't in my paypal account. How could they have made a reversal when I thought they took it out of their terms that they could?

Thank you for all your helpful suggestions on merchant account basics.

Just afew hours ago, I totally get fed up with Paypal; just like you said, they have always been rude to everyone, but I had to tolerate their rudeness due to the fact that I need them for my business. Just afew days ago, my PP account get limited: Your account access cannot be appeal, with a bunch of bullshits. To the end, I told myself: that's it. I had enought! There's nothing in the world that can cause me insomnia other than my gf and PP!

I found this website and it's a pleasure to see your shared experiences with everyone. I have just applied for a merchant account (Eventhough I'm not sure if it's gonna get approved or not). There are afew things that I'm worrying at this moment. First I would like to know how can I integrate my own merchant account to Ebay auction lisitng page? I hope it can be as convenient as Paypal for my buyers to pay for items they purchased from me. Please give me some hints.

The other thing that I'm worrying about is that, does IRS get involved with your income? In my old days with Paypal, I don't have that type of worry because I thought PP will take care of everything: they are always good on cheating. But since I decided to start my own merchant account, I must think about the IRS issue: Will the IRS auditing my transaction history and my incomes? Please give me some hints. (oh, I make averagely about $8000/month sales)

Alot people in here claimed that "Paypal killed their business." I'm just curious to know if it's true? I believe if you have a bunch of positive scores, it should be fine.
Please give me some hints.

I appreciate for contributing all your experiences. I'm looking forward to hear from you.

Best wish to your business and family.

Ok so I sell this guitar on Ebay, I offer insurance, buyer doesnt want it, I ship via UPS...blah blah blah, buyer gets it, and its broken. UPS is offering 130.00 back, total auction for 450.00 Buyer files complaint with Paypal saying "item not as described", paypal emails me asking what happend, I very nicely explain that it appears that guitar was broken during shipping, but I offered insurance and buyer chose not to take it. 5 weeks go by and Paypal is communicating with buyer but not with me at all, I am not allowed access to what buyer is stating. Then I recieve an email saying they have decided in buyers favor, that they will atempt to take the 455 from my account (which has been frozen for 5 weeks) They dont tell me what made them decide in the buyers favor, no info at all, and on top of that the email thanks me for authorizing them to issue a refund! I didnt authorize anything!!! i have a perfect history with ebay and paypal and now this!! The whole paypal chargeback system is big loophole, they dont have a selection for things that are damaged in shipping, they just have item not recieved or item not as described, so basically I can buy anything I want on Ebay, pay through paypal, not like what I get, break it, and then charge it back through paypal. And honestly if you know anything about guitars, and you look at this one, you would think it was broken after it was recieved, not during shipping. I am so angry and dont know what to do. I called customer service and they gave me an address to send an appeal to appeals@paypal.com but I dont really have much hope for that.

Start:

I was helping my friend to get a hosting sevice from godaddy about one months ago. At beginning, I chose to pay them by paypal, and setup a preapproved payments agreement with godaddy on paypal (May 15) . But for some reason, Godaddy's webpage gave me a error message and I couldn't continue. So I tried again and setup another preapproved payments agreement (May 16), but met the same problem again. After some struggle with Godaddy's customer service (They suck too, but that's another story), I gave up and payed the money directly from my credit card. Now I need to cancel the two agreements (Each of them allow godaddy get $500 from my credit card every month, that's something I don't want happen.) I canceled the second agreement (the May 16 one )without problem, but when I tried to cancel the frist agreement, I got the following error message from Paypal:

"
We are sorry that we are experiencing temporary difficulties. Please try again later.
Message 4001
"

I tried several times and always got the same error message, and the funny thing is every time I cancel it, I got a email notice:

"

Yet in my profile this agreement still showed active.

Then my journey with paypal customer service began:

1A. (May 16) Post a message on paypal website:

In the next a few days, I got a bunch of emails from paypal with same content:
"
Dear XXXX XXXX,

Daddy Software, Inc.. No further payments will be made from your PayPal
account to this merchant. If you have any further questions about the

Obviously some Paypal customer service tried to cancel this agreement for me, but just like me, they got no luck: In my profile, it still showed active.

4A. (June 6)So here was my new email:
"
Dear Heidi,

I got nine emails from paypal in last three days, telling me this billing agreement had been cancelled; yet when I login to paypal, my profile still showes it's active( see the attached mht file). Is there any thing wrong with my paypal account? I would expect for such a small issue, paypal should be able to handle it in a short period.

Regards,
"

Then I got another bunch of "Billing Agreement Cancellation Confirmation" emails. Oh boy, They really tried hard to cancel it. Finally I got a email telling me "Your billing agreement with Go Daddy Software, Inc. has been modified". I checked it from paypal profile, found the monthly maximum was changed to $0.01 USD. I felt a little relax, $0.01 one month wasn't too much.

4B.(June 14) Paypal customer service Randy replyed my email. This is the most ridiculous one, totally nosence:
"Dear XXXX XXXX,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your concerns. I am happy
to assist you further.

Please remember these steps to help protect your PayPal account from
Unauthorized Account Access.

Emails - Make sure they are sent from PayPal

1. If you receive an email and are unsure whether it is from PayPal,
open a new web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer or Netscape) and type in
the following: https://www.paypal.com/ Don't click on any link in an email
which seems suspicious to you.

2. Some spoof websites will send emails that pretend to come from
PayPal to entice you to log in at the spoof URL. Be extremely cautious of
emails that direct you to a website that asks for sensitive information.

3. Stay safe; don't respond to emails asking for any of the following:

· Your password and email address combination
· Credit card numbers
· Bank account numbers
· Social security numbers
· Drivers license number
· First and Last Names

If you have surrendered financial or password information to a suspicious
email or website, promptly report this to the issuing institution as well
as change your password and secret answers on your PayPal account. This can
be completed in the Profile section of your account.

Email Greeting -

· PayPal will never send you an email with the greeting "Dear PayPal
User" or "Dear PayPal Member". Emails initiated by PayPal will address you
by your first and last name, or the business name associated with your
PayPal account.

· Please note that the automatic response you get from us may not
address you by name.
Always log into the PayPal site

· PayPal will only ask for information AFTER you have securely logged
in.

· For your security, PayPal will never ask you to re-enter your full
bank account, credit, or debit card number without providing you at least
the LAST TWO DIGITS of the number. These digits let you know that we
already know the full number and are asking you for the rest of it. Beware
of any website or email asking for these numbers for "verification" that
does not PROVE that it knows the number by providing at least the last two
digits

· Use Account Guard on the eBay toolbar. If you use Internet Explorer,
download the eBay toolbar. Account Guard helps ensure you are on PayPal or
eBay

Website pages - make sure that they are hosted by PayPal

1. When using the PayPal service, always ensure that the url address
listed at the top of the browser is
https://www.paypal.com/ The 's' ensures that the website is secure. Even if
the URL contains the word 'PayPal', it may not be a PayPal webpage.

2. Look for the 'lock' symbol that appears in the lower right hand
corner of the browser. This symbol indicates that it is a secure site.

Do not download attachments, software updates, or any application to your
computer via a link you received in an email. PayPal will not ask you to
download anything for your account to work.

Passwords - keep it on PayPal

1. Use a unique password for the PayPal account and change it every
30-60 days.
2. The password should be one that is not used on any other site,
service, or login.

If you think you have received a fraudulent email including the header
information or the site's URL, please forward the original email to
spoof@paypal.com and then delete the email from your mailbox. Never click
any links or attachments in a suspicious email.

I appreciate the opportunity to assist you. We are committed to making your
experiences at PayPal pleasant and rewarding.

Sincerely,
Randy

"OK, then please assist me to get rid of this billing agreement:
B-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I noticed the monthly Maximum payment was changed to $0.01 by you (or some other paypal employer) , I guess that's something I can afford, So I am not really worrying about losing money now. But I still want it to be cancelled; And I don't understand why it's so difficult to cancel a agreement.

"I am so disappointed with the paypal customer service. I tried again today and got the same error message:

We are sorry that we are experiencing temporary difficulties. Please try again later.
Message 4001

This " temporary difficulties" has last for more than one month, and I got emails from so many different "Customer support": Carole, Esperanza, Heidi, Randy, Mary, and looks like nobody knows nothing about this mystious "Message 4001". If you can't fix the problem, just tell me you can't , and please don't switch to another Sandy or Sindy!!!!

Yours very upseted,

Stats seem about right to me, for PayPal:

3.88% (10 users) of users had a positive experience.
1.16% (3 users) of users had a neutral experience.
94.96% (245 users) of users had a negative experience.

Paypal is the worse service I ever seen before. I've been doing 1000+ transactions through PP without a problem. Last 3 weeks i stopped all my ebay auction to go on 3weeks vacation. DUring that time, some newbie filed a claim on the item is not as described. And 7 days later while I still on vacation, paypal reversed money and refund that newbie without make that newbie send back the item. Now I lost the $500 item and they would not deal with it. This is just so ridiculus. They are helping the Buyer to steal the item from seller.

Is there anyone out there suing Paypal? or where can i join the group who is suing paypal?????

I made a ebay and paypal account just to buy this gas mask that I really, really liked! Once I bought the gas mask, and it did arrive because the seller was really trustworthy my bank accounts one by one called me. Royal Bank was the first to call me, they said there were lots of transactions and they basically asked "What the hell is going on?". I was shocked beyond
belief when I looked at all those transactions, then all the other banks which I have used called me and basically said the same thing. I lost approximately $4000 Canadian dollars, when I checked my funds in paypal it was totally leeched. I called paypal, sent them letters and emails asking what they were doing and tellling them to stop it. They said they would investigate the matter immediatly, then I received an email saying my account is frozen and the funds will remain for 180 days incase of chargeback. I couldn't care less, my funds were DRIED. To this day I still wonder why I didn't close my paypal and ebay accounts right after I bought the gas mask. Don't EVER, ever trust paypal they act sympathetic to your tradegies but does nothing to help you, infact paypal are the ones taking the money with all those corrupt employees in their buildings.

My ebay and Paypal have been suspended because they say I have use someone else identity i have already fax them my ID to proff my identity and everytime they send me emails saying " sorry your account is still limited and ask me for more information. I have already send them invoices for the items i sell, ID, USPS receipts and I am a verified Paypal member. I have spend over $15 on faxes already!!! I have to pay fees to ebay for auctions I didnt even sell because they suspend my account. I also find out some else is using my auction pictures and description I report this to Ebay and they didnt do anything about it.

So about 3 months ago I received a payment on my personal account from a friend for a PSP and some games. I immediately withdrew the payment to my checking account (as I always do).

A few days later I received a notice from paypal telling me that that I was the recipient of "potentially unauthorized funds." They made my balance negative and demanded I return the payment. Of course since it was my personal account I wasn't covered under their protection policy.

Fastward to last week...

Paypal limits my Premier Account cancelling my latest transfer and locking the $850 payment I recieved in the account.

After spending hours on the phone, sending in 80 forms of ID and complying with every single request they tell me my premier account has been linked to my personal account and since there is a negative balance they are limiting the account.

I was told that if I paid the negative balance things would go back to normal. So I paid it back.

Today the funds cleared bringing my negative balance on my personal account to zero... yet my accounts were still limited so I called the res department to find out why.

The lady said they needed more information...Specifically proof of purchase of the item I sold in April!!! Which of course I don't have since I included it with the item because of the "dead pixel" issue with new PSPs!!

I told the representative this and had her document it through the proper channels. A few minutes later the account review team got back to me with the "After reviewing your PayPal account, we have determined there to be excessive risk involved and would like to begin parting ways in a manner that is least disruptive to your business."

!!!!

I cannot believe this!

Being an active PayPal/Ebay User, i've came to this site by curiosity.

I know paypal sux completly and that they dont deserve to 'exist'. I've lost money of about 900$ because of getting scammed twice, and once chargeback case.

i really dont like paypal, but what other choises do we have? How can people pay us, and with a "REAL" buyer/seller protection program? What other than PayPal?

Paypal monthly limit is $500 per month.
To lift this one must accept a $1.95 charge to the credit card on file. Then check their credit card statement for a 4 digit code. This is suppose
to LIFT the monthly account limit access. Yet, Paypal will LIMIT your account for excess withdrawls or sells.

===={MY STORY}====
In my case, I recently rejoined Paypal for Ebay specifically use of BUY IT NOW {Immediate payment required}. I quickly made $500 in less than a week. Because I know how Paypal operates I withdral amounts all under $120 at the end of each night. I had two complaints from NON-EBAY USERS stating I never shipped their products. One complint was 2 days after she paid on a week-end. This was of course BS! This chick paid Saturday night and filed on Monday after winning two of my auctions. I sent her a Money Request from Paypal, she declined it. So I asked her when shall she make payment for the other item. She told me she would send a money order, Monday. So I told her, I'll wait for the money order and ship all items together. She got pissed off and filed a Paypal complaint.

The other complaint was from a women at another aucton site claiming she never received the item, when she did. Address on her paypal account references a corporation. So I sent it there.

Anyway here's the kicker, Paypal limits my account but allows me to still accept money, I have $350 of ebay moeny in my account right now.
I can't REFUND {unless the buyer files a complaint--isn't this dumb?}
Now I have to either tell my buyer to file a complint to receive their money or wait until they do}. They also cancelled/reversed a $40 & $80 withdrawal made on July 4th.

Paypal told me to lift this limited access on my account,
I need to complete two steps.
#1: Refund or respond to all complaints. I have two and did.
#2: Give them my social security number.

I sent Paypal an email and informed them, I will not give them my social security number. They sent a canned reply stating they needed me to complete these two steps to remove the limit. I told them, once again I will not give them my social security number oherwise what is the purpose of the bank account or credit card verifications they use.
Because of identity theft as well as advice from my attorney & bank telling me to not do it. In fact, my bank has said they are thinking about blocking Paypal because they will go into custmers accounts and take money out without authorization.

In the past, I made money with Checks/Money orders, but hate waiting
3-5 days to receive payment hoping to believe the customer mailed it out when they did.

Anyway, I essentially told Paypal if they can't unlimit my account without me giving them my social security number then our affiliation is done.
I told Paypal I would delete my email account as a way for them to contact me by mail. I will close my account myself. I refuse to allow a company to dictate when they shall close my acc****. I also informed Paypal they will be responsible for any chargebacks as I am not able to refund money unless the customer complains and files a dispute.
I find this total stupid on Paypal's part.

As odd as this may seem, using Ebay without a merchant account or Paypal
is average. Although, I've seen alot of sellers do this. Customers are essentially lazy, Bidpay takes at least a week to process and mail the money order. I had it occur twice! Then Bidpay takes a day to decide if they will approve or deny. From my experince if you DO NOT HAVE a Bidpay account, they will approve you faster then if you do.
For example, Bidpay has an option to allow registered sellers to send the money to their checking/savings account. 8/10 my transactions are not approved. Bidpay doesn't explain why. I give my buyer's a different email address, they still have my name, complete address and Bidpay appoved 8/10! Weird! I have the impression Bidpay prefers to pay with Money orders.
Furthermore, Bidpay sends these money orders with no tracking or certified mail, just as first class mail. So if the mail gets lost the buyer is screwed.!

That's what they told me in 2002 when I purchased a pair of expensive items (over $3,000) thru PayPal. Items delived by UPS arrived broken beyond repair. I called UPS; UPS told me to contact my credit card company. I did, and the credit card company issued a chargeback. PayPal PERMANENTLY restricted my account and REFUSED to let me close my account.

I sold a pair of rare NIKE AF-1's for $700, and after I shipped the item, the buyer filed a complaint the following day with paypal saying he never recieved the goods! After I sent the tracking number to my buyer he recieved the sneakers and notified paypal, but paypal still doesn't want to send me my payment. Palpal has also asked me to fax them all my reciepts to proove that I actually have the items I am selling! So I did that right away hoping it would clear things up but it's been 3 weeks since I faxed them and today I recieve an email saying they didn't not recieve all of my faxed pages! No one at Paypal notified me of this and all I am doing is waiting.. I was also instructed by Paypal to click on the "resolve" tab in my limited account page but nothing happens after I click the link and it only loads with errors on the page! Anotherthing that really ticks me off is there is no fax number listed, so what number am I meant to fax my stuff to to proove my inocience?

My wife has her own PayPal account and it has been limited because my account went negative. I hadn't used it for months and got two bad old transactions which PayPal took out of my small remaining balance sending it negative. Unfortunately my spam filters thought the emails from Paypal wer phishing emails and I never saw them.

Last week my wife's account was limited and the reason given was because my account was limited ! My wife asked to transfer money from her balance to clear my negative balance, but because her account is now limited they won't do this. They want us to send a US$ cheque to their US offices, even though we are based in the UK. We cannot attach our bank accounts to my account because they are already on my wife's and they don't accept debit/credit card payments either !

Do you think there is any legal challenge for Paypal using my account to limit my wifes account which is in good standing ?

After about 10 phone calls and 20 non-threatening emails it seems this was all I had to do:

my email to crme@paypal.com-
"To Who it may concern,
This is the very last attempt I will make to contact your company. My
account has been illegally frozen since June 10th, 2005. If this matter
is not resolved immediately I will proceed to small claims court. I
will not only be sueing for the $277 in my account but also for damages
due to the detrimental effect this has had on my business. Over the
past year I have taken in an average of $1200/month via Paypal payments
therefore I will seek the appropriate reparations. I have already filed
complaints with the FTC and the District Attorneys of New York and
California. Although your user agreement contains a clause stating that
small claims appeals must be made in California, I am already aware that
this rule has been declared unconscionable by Judge Fogel, a federal
judge, in 2002.
My account has been limited due to the fact that my husband had an
account with a negative balance of $46 over one year ago. There is
nothing in the user agreement which states that a person's marital
relationship to another account holder is a legitimate reason for
account limitation. My account balance is also $277. There is
absolutely no reason for funds in excess of $46 to be held. I am also
aware that a judge has already ruled against this action in Paypal
Litigation Case No. 02 1227 JF PVT. I have faxed all the documentation
to your offices that were requested of me, although none of that
information should have even been necessary. My husband has already
paid the $46 two weeks ago but I have received no response from Paypal.
I have obtained legal counsel therefore if this matter is not resolved
by the end of the business day, today, I will be filing my case in small
claims court on Tueday, July 5th.
Sincerely,"

Their reply-
"Hello my name is Lee, I am sorry to hear about the situation regarding
your limitation on your account and understand your frustration and
concern over this issue. I will be happy to assist you with your
questions.

After review of your limitation I have removed it from your account. I
reviewed the two other accounts that you are linked to and there is no
longer a need to have your account limited. This change is instant,
therefore, you have full access to your PayPal account at this time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this matter, and
wish you continued success on PayPal."

Thanks so much to this forum. Without it I didn't even know about the crme address. I doubt I'll use Paypal again. Going to go unlink my account now!

All,

Sooner or later it had to happen. Got my account frozen earlier today for what I suspect is rapid growth (never received any money and then 3000 GBP in the last week)

Here is where I stand:

I have extracted money to my bank account and the process is completed although funds are not in my bank account yet (Transaction is not showing as reversed at this stage). Can PayPal take the funds out of my bank account?

There is still 350 GBP in the account. At this stage they are asking me to fax them some documents. All other steps have been completed. From what I have read on the Forum it is a waste of time to fax as they do not respond. I did phone them up and the lady told me that it will take 4 business days to complete after which they might ask for additional information.

Will it be worth my time to fax the documents to them. How long does it usually take for them to unfreeze my account? Note: I am a legit seller, no grey or under the table stuff.

Any advice much appreciated

Ok, when i woke up this morning one of my clients said that they purchased something through paypal. Then, i go and look in my paypal account and find over 5,000USD tried to be put in my bank account but my bank didnt allow that. So what paypal did was they still took the money out of my account but didnt put it anywhere. SO now i am pissed. I call em up and they say that we cant help you because your bank doesnt allow money to be deposited from paypal. So i go and call my bank to see what the problem was and they say that there has been what they think has been fraudulent charges to my account through paypal, and i say no there wasnt and went through that big thing accepting paypal deposits and charges. And then i go back to paypal and call them up. They say there is nothing we can do for you because we already deposited the money to your bank account. And so right now i am screaming my head off because 5,000USD just diss a ****ing peared into thin air. So i call up my bank and they say that the deposits were sent back to paypal, not accepting the deposits. And paypal says that they never got the deposits back so they still charged my account. WTF!!! So either the deposits were interupted and taken by some **** hacker that hacked into payapl, which i highly think isnt possible because they operate through SSL. Or they are just being lazy and want nothing to do with what happened.

PLEASE HELP! WHAT SHOULD I DO?

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I lost over 5,000 dollars on paypal!
Waaaay back when, I had a PP account. Then they finally screwed by. Someone filed a bs claim &, of course, they didn't wait for me to reply or even care what the FACTS were. They just gave the bser his $ back & put my account balance in the negative. This was years ago now. They then, without letting me know & without my permission, took the money (over $400) from my bank account. (I had the acct linked to my PP acct)
Called my bank & explained it was an unauthorized transaction blah blah & my bank gave me my $ back. Got emails from PP saying that I owed them this $ blah blah. I explained to them, 50 times, the situation, but of course they wouldn't listen & didn't care!
So here we are years later & now they are going to **** up my perfect credit w/this shit!!!!
I just got off the phone w/PP & they are still worthless.
What can I do? I'm not paying $400+ that I don't owe & I sure as hell cant have my credit screwed up!
Those bastards at paypal refuse to confirm my address without a credit card. First I call them and they actually used scare tactics and told me I didn't want to confirm my address because it's dangerous. But it's somehow safe to give them my bank account # and credit card #'s?? huh? Now I cannot pay a seller because he only accepts money from confirmed addresses. Now I'm waiting for neg feedback and a strike because paypal refuses to confirm my address. Ebay live help won't help either. I contacted ebay live help because paypal absolutely refuse to help and of course no appeal. Ebay live help did the same thing. ebay live help tells me there is nothing they can do because it's a paypal issue NOT an ebay issue. Ebay refuse to help and tells me there is NO livehelp supervisor there at all. 5 minutes later I'm talking to a supervisor at ebay live help. Gee they lied. Imagine that. Supervisor refuses to help and says the same thing then cuts off live help session. I go back to livehelp and ask WTF help me. Supervisor again ends session. I went back again guess what a 3rd time they refuse to help and end session and now I am blocked from live help. I'm sorry but how failed is your customer service when you resort to refusing to help customers and have to block them from the livehelp area? You know to me if they wanna have sh*tty customer service that's one thing but to use scare tactics? That's B.S. that should be against the law as in CRIMINAL not civil. If they can just lie at will and use scare tactics what next???? Granted this was just confirming my address but like I say if they can lie at will and use scare tactics without ANY consequences it is a disaster waiting to blow up on somebody.
